Use a USB drive with an HMP
USB storage can be used instead of the onboard storage of the player, if desired.
1. In Control Center, open the Media Sources page (under Administration). The current settings will be displayed.
2. Ensure the Primary source is set to "Local Storage".
Enable "Set Local Storage to USB storage device when available"
3. Press Apply.
4. Insert a USB storage device into the USB port of the HMP. Wait for a few seconds and then press the Reload button.
The page should indicate that the local storage is currently set to USB storage
By default most USB storage is formatted using the FAT16 or FAT32 file system. This has the advantage that the storage is readable
both by the HMP and any PC (and many other devices).
However FAT-formatted file systems cannot be written to by the HMP. To use USB storage permanently,
and continue to write to the storage via the network, the drive must be formatted by the HMP.
